Scott Lutgert has been named the 2026 Naples Daily News Outstanding Citizen of the Year, recognizing more than five decades of leadership and involvement across Southwest Florida.

Since relocating to Naples in 1969, Lutgert has played a central role in the region’s growth. His work includes the development of Park Shore, Bonita Bay high-rises, The Estuary at Grey Oaks, and commercial destinations such as The Village on Venetian Bay, The Promenade at Bonita Bay, and Mercato. As Chairman of The Lutgert Companies, he has overseen a portfolio spanning real estate, construction, title, and brokerage services.

The recognition also reflects his long-term commitment to the community. Lutgert helped establish the Naples Winter Wine Festival, which has generated more than $125 million for children’s programs in Collier County. His leadership has extended to Florida Gulf Coast University, where he served as chairman of the Board of Trustees, and to NCH Healthcare System, where he returned during a period of significant transition and helped guide the organization forward.

Those who have worked with Lutgert consistently point to a leadership style defined by focus, consistency, and a willingness to step in when needed.

“One person truly can make a monumental difference in a whole bunch of people’s lives,” said Blake Gable, CEO of Barron Collier Companies.

Throughout his career, Lutgert has remained focused on solving problems and supporting efforts that strengthen the community. The recognition reflects both his professional work and his long-term impact across Southwest Florida.
